Sting in the tail

On the 13. november 1944 my grandfather and his pilot (hungarian airforce 102/2 "Tiger" fastbomber squadron Me-210) were attacked by nine russian Yak-9 fighters. Two Yaks were shot down in the dogfight over Nagyszenas, the other seven fled...

  1. Is that the "Tigris" emblem on the left side of the nose?

    1. Yes, that is the "Tigris".
Here is: https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/9aZQ_mRPvGtE-ahY3bzCyNMTjNZETYmyPJy0liipFm0?feat=directlink a sideview of the plane.

    2. ah! Thanks very much! I found this one:

but I had no idea how authentic it was.

    3. According to original photos the "Tigris" insigna was a tiger jumping down, had no burning ring and was facing forwards not smiling to the side. Otherwise it is authentic, orange figure with black stripes ;)
It was painted on the left side of the aircraft.
